Comments about the web site: I am looking for sample menues from the Andrea Doria. Not for the sake of the artistic value, but to give some ideas to members of my yacht club. I am the fleet captain and our club will be having a THEME night during our upcoming cruise to the Cape Cod area this summer. Thanks for your efforts. The page and the links should be very useful.

Just read today that a very large cruise ship, called the Grand Princess, is now sailing out of Istanbul and I wanted to compare it to the Titanic in size. I was amazed that apparently the Titanic is "only" about half the size of the Grand Princess!! How can this be???? Thank you for such a wonderful web site. Regards, Raul.

Comments about the web site: I was a passenger in October 1953 at the age of thirteen. We went to France, ner Nancy as Army dependents. We stopped at Southampton, England. Then went to Le Havre. I still have our passenger list, no photo's from our trip. Also have an SS United States promotional brochure with an artist's rendition of the various interior rooms. Also I have a Saturday Evening Post (1956) advertisement showing the liner at a pier, and in the foreground is that years Cadillac in front of it. We had one picture taken by the ship's photographer at our dinner table on Halloween night which was our first night out to sea. That picture I haven't seen for many years, It is nice to see all these great web pages with photo's as it recalls a lot of god memories. Our lifeboat as I recall was the second to the last one on the starboard side. Thanks for sharing your fine page with so many of us that remember that unforgettable ship Darrell Kaikkonen

Comments about the web site: My grandfather sailed on the Leviathan on Sunday, October 13, 1929 to Southampton Germany. I have a question. I have a passenger list/program from his journey, and it says that the Leviathan was 59,956 tons, which is different that what you said. If you have any questions about his voyage or anything, I also have his Farewell Dinner menu with a few signatures.

While it was in the U.S.in moth balls, I developed a friendship with the vice president of the concern trying to send it back to the open seas. I have just started my search on the web with your web page and plan to continue looking for it shortly. Thank you for your news. Sinserely, Jerry Wright

Comments about the web site: I hope you plan to add other liners. As a child I travelled on the SS Australis, ex America, beautiful art deco interiors, she seamed much more elegant than the interior views I've seen of the United States. So very few of these grand ships of state remaining. The SS Norway is probably the last of the large transalantic ships of state, still has some wonderful public rooms, well worth including in your list, I've some good photos of what were originally her first class dining room and smoking room, I'd be happy to scan them and send them off to you. Hope to travel on the Rembrandt, ex Rotterdam V, in October. I think that these are the only remaining grand hotel style liners. I think that the QE2 is vastly overated, no comparison with the aforementioned. Good luck with your website!.

Comments about the web site: Looks great so far. If you ever chose to add the SS France of 1962, i'd be glad to help out as I worked for Norwegian Cruise Line for four years, and spent considerable time on the SS Norway. I was also onboard when she made her first return to France since NCL purchased her. Between August 31 & September 10th 1996, there were several lectures held on what life was like onboard the France, including the enigneer, daughter of the captain, curator of the French Line archives and other French Line ships including one of the first so-called public showings of John Miotel's (sp) color footage shot onboard the Normandie in the late thirties for a NYC travel agent during a Caribbean cruise. He was planning to release a video of it sooner or later, and was incredible to watch. Al in all it was a terrific cruise, despite the hard work, and was one of my best times in my cruising career. Best of luck Joe Sorrentino

I'm doing research on ocean liners for a play by Tom Soppard which takes place in the late 20's-early 30's on the "Italian Castle" Southampton-NY via Cherbourg--trying to figure out the visual research at this point--what type of liner--the expensive suites have a veranda . . . Would be glad to hear from you if you have any ideas on this fictious ship.

Comments about the web site: I found this site very interesting. I was looking for information on a ship called the Aquitainia as I had picked up an original print of this ship in a solid oak 3 ft X 2 ft. frame. The frame has the name Cunard Lines pressed into it. I see from the outlines of the ship that the print was commissioned in 1913 since the the new wheel house was not in the print. (Added in 1914). The print I have looks similar to the one pictured in your Web page with the backgroung being a busy British harbour. Thanks for the information in your article. John Pike.

Comments about the web site: Thanks for a great visit. My first crossing was in 1938 on Cunard's CARINTHIA (1925 built) and return on SCYTHIA. These were great steamers - CARINTHIA along with FRANCONIA were the Cunard round the world cruisers. Other Cunard voyages were in 1950 round trip on QM. Thanks again for your info - if you add more to your website, please email me.

Comments about the web site: Numerous amounts of times I have tried to download one of your Mariah Carey pictures to put on my wallpaper, and every time I click on one of them, a window comes up and says something about how I have tried to download something that I can't. I find this hard to believe, because we have a relatively new, powerful computer. When I couldn't download the picture the way you suggested, I right-clicked on it and selected "save image as", and saved it. But it still tells(me when I'm out of the Internet), that I can't display the picture. Could you write to me and try to help me? I'd be grateful!!!

Comments about the web site: Good. My Dad was a member of the Australian Imperial Forces. He sailed to the Middle East in the big convoy of 1940 on the Mauritania (New) in convoy with the Queen Mary (next ahead crossing the great Australian Bight), Aquitania, Ille de France and others. After Pearl Harbour returned to Australia via Sumatra and Java on the Orcadies (later sunk) Dad subsequently went to New Guinea on lesser ships to fight. Do you have info on the second Mauritania and the Orcades, esp during the war? Phillip M

I have tried Mr. Warren Samut who owns Maritime Replicas, but he has no intention of offering this ship yet. Any Info would be greatly appreciated. Regards, John VanEepoel

Comments about the web site: My husband came to Canada from England on the Aquitania on it's final voyage. His mom was under the impression that the Aquitania was a sister ship to the Titanic; however, based on the information you have provided it seems they were not built by the same shipyard. My husband (Bob) works for a local shipyard and has a great interest in the old ships. Any information you may have on the Aquitainia would be of great interest to us. Thanks for putting this together.
